6 April 2018 - New Format Electronic Bill of Costs – We’re ready…but are you?

Back in October 2017 we advised that, after much delay, the much talked about and debated new format Bill of Costs would finally become would be mandatory for

  • part 7 multi-track claims;

  • the Bill relates to work undertaken after 6 April 2018; and

  • provisional assessments (Bills under £75,000.00)

but would not apply where

  • the proceedings are subject to fixed or scale costs or scale costs;

  • any matter where the receiving party is a litigant in person;

  • cases where the court has made another order;

  • legal aid claims;

  • or Solicitors Act assessments.

Many practices have been gearing-up for this, adapting their time recording practices to take this into account, however it is suspected that equally many have not, perhaps believing that there will be yet another delay. The new provisions are now in in place.

Here at SPH Costing Services Ltd, we have been making sure that we are ready to guide our clients through this new and exciting (and possibly also equally challenging) time and look forward to providing you and your colleagues with any and all professional assistance which you may require.
